Amaechi was also not approved when he went to the Governor of Lagos State.

Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has declined to support Rotimi Amaechi’s presidential campaign in 2023.
Amaechi, who quit his ministerial post yesterday, paid a visit to Kano on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, as part of his preparations for the APC presidential primary.
Ganduje described Kano as a “swing state” at Amaechi’s meeting with APC stakeholders in the state, adding that the state will “continue to swing.”
He went on to say that Amaechi would know exactly where the state would swing at the correct time.
The former minister stated that he was in Kano to persuade him that he was the best competent candidate among the others.
Amaechi was also not approved when he went to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to canvass for votes.
Sanwo-Olu informed him that the party’s National Leader, Bola Tinubu, was their rallying point.
Tinubu’s supporter Ganduje officially backed his presidential ambition in February when the presidential contender met with Kano APC members.
However, Amaechi feels he is better suited than Tinubu because of the jobs he has had in politics.
The former minister said that the former Lagos governor had never been a minister or a legislator.
He further stated that he is better competent than Vice President Yemi Osinbajo because the VP was the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly during Tinubu’s government in Lagos.
