The FG has urged the Enugu State government to start constructing the flyover bridge at Abakpa junction in Enugu City in order to lessen traffic congestion and improve the state’s economic situation.
Speaking while on a tour of many Southeast projects, Minister of Works David Umahi emphasised that the state government will receive reimbursement for the project’s funding through the MTN Tax Credit Scheme while also pledging federal cooperation.
Umahi, who was with Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, visited the scene of the collapsed bridge at New Artisan Market, next to NNPC Mega Filling Station, in Enugu State, and praised the governors of the area for their efforts in the building of road infrastructure for the economic advancement of the area.
He predicted that the region’s economy would start to soar as a result of the ongoing development projects.
The construction of a 23-span twin flyover bridge at Eke-Obinagu Junction, Emene, which was managed by Reinforced Global Ltd., the reconstruction of the collapsed bridge along the Enugu-PH Motorway at New Artisan Market, which was managed by CCECC Ltd., and the “dualisation” of a 107-kilometre stretch of the Enugu-Onitsha Motorway, which was managed by RCC Ltd., were among the other projects he visited.
He praised the governor for taking the initiative to manage the dualisation of the Enugu-Abakaliki-Ogoja Trans-Sahara Highway’s 24-kilometre Enugu axis, and he pointed out that the intervention had closed the gap in the federal government’s efforts to improve the state’s road infrastructure.
In order to lessen the distress experienced by road users due to the incomplete section of the road, Umahi instructed RCC Ltd. to re-mobilise immediately to the site and clear the roadways.
He asked the public, as he did in his most recent nationwide broadcast, to continue to put faith in the federal government’s economic recovery initiatives.
The governor of the host state responded by pointing out that cooperation between the federal and state governments is essential to the growth and advancement of the state.
