Doyin Okupe Sentenced To 2 Years In Prison For Money Laundering 

The judge gave him a two-year jail term with the possibility of an N500,000 fine.

Doyin Okupe was found guilty and given a two-year prison term for accepting more than N200 million in cash from former National Security Adviser (NSA) Col. Sambo Dasuki.

On Monday, December 19, 2022, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu declared that Okupe’s behavior was illegal under the Money Laundering Act.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed a lawsuit in 2019, and the first defendant is Okupe, the Director-General of the Peter Obi Campaign Organization.

On count 34, the judge gave him a two-year jail term with the possibility of an N500,000 fine.

The court also gave him a two-year prison term on charges 35 to 59, along with an additional punishment of N500,000, according to Channels TV. The sentence will run simultaneously with the option of fine, which will run consecutively on each count. The sentence will begin to serve on the day the verdict is announced.
