Actors Guild of Nigeria helps Chiwetalu Agu get released from DSS custody.

On Tuesday, the Actors Guild of Nigeria secured Nollywood star Chiwetalu Agu’s release from the Department of State Services.
Chiwetalu Agu has been released to the Actors Guild of Nigeria, according to a statement on the guild’s official Instagram page.
“The National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ejezie Emeka Rollas, has yet again secured the release of Actor Chiwetalu Agu from the custody of the DSS,” said the statement signed by the AGN Communication Director, Monalisa Chinda.
“On behalf of the Guild, I was at the DSS office with my colleague, the Senior Special Assistant on Military Affairs and Inter Governmental Relations to the President, Steve Eboh, to receive Mr. Agu today.
“The elated veteran actor thanked God for surviving the ordeal and commended the leadership of the Actors Guild of Nigeria headed by Ejezie Emeka Rollas for their relentless efforts in securing his release from the detention.”
On October 7, 2021, at Upper Iweka in Onitsha, Anambra State, the Nigerian Army apprehended Agu for wearing a Biafra costume while distributing bread and other goods to the needy.
He was accused by the army of seeking support for the banned Indigenous People of Biafra, which has been accused of terrorism in the past. He was then turned over to the DSS to be investigated and prosecuted.
Agu, who has been in a number of films, including ‘Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story,’ which is currently available on Netflix, has long been a supporter of the Biafra fight.
He has criticised President Muhammadu Buhari’s (retd.) administration for allegedly marginalizing the Igbo people.
