China Becomes World Leader In Computing Power 

Against severe competition in the global digital economy, China stands out in artificial intelligence (AI) computing, digital manufacturing transformation, and many other disciplines.

A research on the evaluation of the worldwide computing power index in the 2021-2022 period was released on Monday, according to cctv.com.

The research, which was co-authored by Tsinghua University, International Data Corporation (IDC), and other institutions, presents a comprehensive assessment of 15 major economies’ computing capacity, efficiency, application, and infrastructure.

According to the data, China saw the largest gain in computing power score among these economies between 2021 and 2022, and has already surpassed the United States as the global leader with a score of 70.

Manufacturing, together with the internet and banking, was among the top three industries in terms of computing power for the first time in the report, becoming one of the areas with the fastest growth in computing power input.

According to the analysis, China’s industrial information technology investment accounted for around 15% of the worldwide market in 2021, and that figure is predicted to rise to 20% by 2025.

According to it, the 15 economies’ AI computing power spending as a percentage of total computing power spending has climbed from 9% in 2016 to 12% in 2017, indicating a strong growth in the field.

China has approved initiatives to develop eight national computing centres and plans for ten national data centre clusters, according to the report.

The goal was to foster the green and intensive development of computing power by building new infrastructure that was efficient, intensive, globally applicable, and useful.
