On Friday, the Foreign Office imposed travel bans and asset freezes on Katerina Vladimirovna Tikhonova and Maria Vladimirovna Vorontsova.

Yekaterina Sergeyevna Vinokurova, the daughter of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, faces the same charges.

In retribution for “war crimes” in Ukraine, the United States has already sanctioned Putin’s daughters, and the European Union is set to follow suit.

“Our unprecedented package of sanctions is hurting the elite and their families, while destroying the Russian economy on a scale Russia hasn’t seen since the fall of the Soviet Union,” Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said.

“But we need to do more. Through the G7, we are ending the use of Russian energy and hitting Putin’s ability to fund his illegal and unjustified invasion of Ukraine.

“Together, we are tightening the ratchet on Russia’s war machine, cutting off Putin’s sources of cash.’’

According to the Foreign Office, the move is being conducted to target the opulent lives of the Kremlin’s inner circle.

Tikhonova, 35, Vorontsova, 36, and Vinokurova, 39, were named in an updated sanctions list released online.

In reaction to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which began in February, the United Kingdom has sanctioned around 1,200 persons and businesses.

It is not the first time a Lavrov family has been sanctioned; his stepdaughter Polina Kovaleva was sanctioned just a few months ago.

The sanctions, which include 76 oligarchs, are intended to put pressure on the Kremlin to back down.

They are also attempting to block funding in order to weaken Putin’s military might, with 16 banks being targeted.

Sanctions imposed by Western partners have resulted in the freezing of 275 billion pounds of Russian foreign currency reserves, accounting for 60% of the country’s total.
