Netflix has released a new trailer for Season 2 of Bridgerton, their popular drama series set in Regency-era London. The show follows the titular family and their acquaintances through their lives, concentrating on how romance and property issues lead to scandals among rich families.
Bridgerton’s first season was largely concerned with the relationship between Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon, Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page). The new teaser suggests a shift in Bridgerton’s narrative, with Season 2 following Daphne’s brother Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) as he searches for a suitable marriage. Anthony is attempting to marry for duty and soon begins to court Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran), who has recently arrived in London from India. However, Edwina’s sister Kate (Simone Ashley) will not accept a relationship without love and will do all in her power to derail Anthony’s intentions.
However, fate has a strange way of guiding people to love, as Anthony and Kate begin to fall for each other. So, in Season 2, we’ll see how Anthony and Kate evolve from foes to lovers, as well as the scandalous implications of their forbidden love for the Bridgertons. The new video also teases the return of Lady Whistledown, Penelope Featherington’s (Nicola Coughlan) alias for publishing rumours that manipulates people to behave in her favour. Season 2 will deal with the upheaval in status quo brought about by the discovery of Lady Whistledown’s actual identity.
Julia Quinn’s works have influenced Bridgerton. Adjoa Andoh, Lorraine Ashbourne, Harriet Cains, Bessie Carter, Shelley Conn, Ruth Gemmell, Florence Hunt, Martins Imhangbe, Claudia Jessie, Calam Lynch, Luke Newton, Golda Rosheuvel, Luke Thompson, Will Tilston, Polly Walker, Rupert Young, and Julie Andrews as Lady Whistledown also appear in Season 2.
Season 2 will air on March 25th.
