Bayern Captain, Neuer Makes Training Comeback 10 Months After Leg Injury

By Adeke Chukwuka

Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer made a triumphant return to team training on Thursday, marking his comeback after a 10-month break due to a leg injury sustained in a skiing accident.

He said “It’s a great feeling to be back on the pitch with my teammates.”

“I had been looking forward to that.”

Neuer rejoined Bayern Munich’s training session, participating in a goalkeeping drill alongside teammates Sven Ulreich and Daniel Peretz, as well as outfield players.

The captain, who had won Champions League titles with Bayern in 2013 and 2020, had suffered a leg injury in December, with his return postponed due to recovery complications.

Bayern Munich did not specify Neuer’s return date, but sporting director Christopher Freund mentioned “it’s only a matter of days”. The 2014 World Cup winner, once Germany’s captain, aims to play in the Euros next year, hosted in Germany.
