The return of Ayo ‘AY’ Makun’s Merry Men franchise has been announced.
The comedian and director shared the news on social media and images from the upcoming Merry Men 3.
According to the first-look photographs, the new film contains some returning cast members, including Ramsey Nouah, William Uchemba, Regina Daniels, and AY.
Nadia Buari and Sam Dede, who can be seen in a magnificent wedding scene surrounded by guests, are among the new additions.
The premise, the remainder of the actors, and the release date are unknown, but the new film is likely to continue the original story begun in Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons (2018) and Merry Men 2: Another Mission (2019).
The first film, set in Abuja, follows four affluent men (the Merry Men), who court prominent ladies, obtain contracts from the political elite, steal from the rich, give to the poor, and have sex with the town’s sexiest women.
Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons grossed 235,628,358 at the box office, making it one of the most successful Nollywood films ever.
The second installment of Ayo Makun’s action series reintroduces the merry men against a gang of not-so-fearsome bike-riding, tank top and leather jacket-wearing assassins who must aid an indicted government figure escape prosecution in return for their abducted loved ones.
Merry Men 2: Another Mission collected 36.89 million in its debut weekend (December 20-22, 2019) and a total of 234,505,169.
Merry Men 3 is predicted to make a killing in theaters, following AY’s track record as the King of the Box Office.
