The All Progressives Congress (APC) caretaker/extraordinary convention planning committee (CECPC) has set a fee of N20m for the nomination form for national chairperson post ahead of the party’s national convention.
According to an official document signed by the party’s Director of Organization, Prof. Al-Mustapha Ussiju Medaner, female applicants and physically handicapped people would pay just half of the authorized costs for each post.
Those interested in the APC’s Deputy National Chairmanship posts would pay 10 million, while other positions on the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) will cost 5 million apiece as the payment for nomination forms.
According to press sources, the party’s leadership decided and accepted a plan of activities ahead of its National Convention at its 25th regular meeting on Monday, March 14, 2022.
The posts are likely to be filled during the party’s National Convention on Saturday, March 26, 2022.
The sale of nomination forms, which was supposed to begin on Monday, March 14, will now run only four days, ending on Friday, March 18.
With the recent confirmation of zoning the APC chairperson position to the North-central region, just five of the 13 known hopefuls may wind up putting their popularity to the test at the convention.
Tanko Al-Makura, a current senator and two-term governor of Nasarawa; George Akume, Sani Musa, Saliu Mustapha, and Abdullahi Adamu, another former governor of Nasarawa State and serving senator, are among the five contestants.
