And Just Like That…, the Sex and the City revival series that reintroduces many of the iconic cast and characters, has been renewed for a second season by HBO Max. According to HBO Max, And Just Like That… had the most successful debut of any original production on the streaming channel to date.

Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), three of the original series’ four leads, return in And Just Like That…, set nearly two decades after the finale of Sex and the City. Now in their fifties, the trio must navigate the hard reality of life and friendship, which includes dealing with ageing while still attempting to keep the people they care about.

Aside from the outstanding three, Grey’s Anatomy alum Sara Ramirez, Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, Karen Pittman, Chris Noth, Mario Cantone, David Eigenberg, Evan Handler, and the late Willie Garson round out the first season cast of And Just Like That.

Darren Star created the original series Sex and the City, which ran on HBO for six seasons from 1998 to 2004 and was based on a book by Candace Bushnell. The sequel series is executive produced by Michael Patrick King, a two-time Emmy winner who directed the franchise’s two feature films, which were released in 2008 and 2010. The films functioned as a prequel to the original show, which ended in 2004.
