Domestic airlines operating under the auspices of the Airline Operators of Nigeria have alerted Nigerians to anticipated delays in regularly scheduled aircraft operations caused by a JETA1 (aviation fuel) shortage.
The AON said that the shortage would compel airlines to rearrange flights, which might result in certain operations being delayed or canceled. The statement was signed by the AON’s spokesman, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo.
It said that the unanticipated development hurt airline operators and the industry, particularly during this period of high travel demand for the Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.
The airline operators said, “While we do our utmost best to manage the situation and ensure safe flight operations, we plead for the understanding of the traveling public in the circumstance.
OPC decries high gas cost, wants subsidy sustained Stakeholders skeptical of AON’s capacity to import Jet-A1.
“We also call on the concerned authorities including product importers and marketers to do their best to resolve this ugly situation so as to ease the stress it brings on the traveling public.”
They reaffirmed their dedication to making sure that the nation has seamless services and safe air travel.
A few months ago, the domestic carrier experienced an aviation fuel shortage as a result of the product’s price increase from about N300 per liter to over N600 per liter.
There are worries that domestic carriers may stop operating due to a lack of aviation fuel, according to Kingsley Nwokeoma, President of the Association of Foreign Airlines and Representatives in Nigeria.
