The criminals suspected of stealing over $300,000 worth of equipment off the set of the Netflix series Lupin have been apprehended, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Seven people, ranging in age from 13 to 21, were arrested just outside of Paris. According to AFP, three of them are being detained in detention and four are being put under judicial supervision, while police continue to look for additional members of the robbery group.
The Paris-based Netflix set for Lupin was robbed on February 25, 2022, when about 20 robbers with masks broke into the set, blew fireworks, and stole approximately $330,000 in equipment. Omar Sy, the series’ lead actor, was apparently on site at the time of the robbery, but no one from the cast or crew was hurt, and the filming was only halted briefly.
“There was an incident on 25th February whilst filming the upcoming season of Lupin,” Netflix said in a statement at the time. “Our cast and crew are safe and there were no injuries.”
The robbery occurred just one day after props from the Northern England-based production of The Crown, including a replica Fabergé egg and gold and silver candelabras, were stolen for around $200,000. It’s unknown whether the two robberies had anything in common.
The drama follows professional thief Assane Diop, who is played by Omar Sy, and is based on the fictional French master of disguise Arsène Lupin. The first season of the show, which aired last year, was seen by millions of people around the world and is the first French series to be so popular on Netflix.
