2023: APC Postpones Presidential Screening Indefinitely 

The APC Presidential Screening Committee will examine the 25 presidential aspirants vying for the party’s 2023 presidential ticket.

The vetting of presidential candidates has been postponed by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

On Sunday, May 22, 2022, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, made a statement to that effect.

After the screening exercise failed to take place last weekend as planned, the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC) shifted it to Monday, May 23, 2022.

On May 14 and 15, the party established 17 panels to assess 1,693 contenders, including 145 gubernatorial, 351 senatorial, and 1,197 aspirants ahead of the party primary.

Nevertheless, the presidential primary is set for May 29-30, 2022, at Eagles Square in Abuja.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the party’s national leader; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; former Minister of Niger Delta Development, Godswill Akpabio; former Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Ogbonnaya Onu; former Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha; and former Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun are among the candidates.

Ahmed Yerima, the former governor of Zamfara State, is among the others. Pastor Tunde Bakare; Emeka Nwajiuba, Minister of State for Education; Ben Ayade, Dave Umahi, Kayode Fayemi, and Yahaya Bello, governors of Cross River, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Kogi, and Jigawa states, and Mohammed Badaru Abubakar.

Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Senator Ajayi Boroffice, former Minister of Information, Chief Ikeobasi Mokelu, Tein Jack Rich, Nicholas Felix Nwagbo, and Mrs Uju Kennedy Ohneny, the sole female candidate, are all running.
