The Jigawa State Environmental Protection Agency (JISEPA) has conducted a five-day waste clearance, evacuation and fumigation exercise in Gumel Local Government Area.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Tuesday, acting managing director Adamu Sabo explained that the effort was a component of the state’s comprehensive garbage clearance initiative, which aims to improve sanitation in all areas.
The managing director advised the public and locals to always clean their surroundings and adhere to a good sanitary culture.
He assured that the agency would continue to give public hygiene top priority through awareness campaigns and hands-on demonstrations.
Sabo said that the operation involved the fumigation of various existing institutions, like schools, health facilities, and other public buildings, to rid them of mosquitoes and other reptiles. He explained that the gesture was aimed at improving the hygienic ecosystem and vector control towards enhancing healthy living.
