Renowned rapper Lanre Dabiri, also known as ElDee The Don, has made an incredible claim, claiming that his late father was the first to use the internet in Nigeria.
According to him, his father was instrumental in establishing multiple cybercafés and facilitating critical connections that established the groundwork for internet access in the nation.
ElDee revealed his father’s role in bringing the internet to Nigeria in an exclusive interview with Jahbless, an audio and video podcast presented by Nigerian singer and entrepreneur Olatunde Owoloye.
In his words, “My dad was the person that brought the internet, the very first person that brought the internet to Nigeria. So, he set up pretty much everyone; all the companies and all the first cybercafes that you know. All of those connections come through Popsie.”
ElDee’s father, an expert in information technology, impacted the rapper’s interest in technology.
Despite his official training in design, he recognized the major effect of his family’s relationship with the world of IT.
ElDee is a Nigerian-American rapper, singer, and record producer now residing in the United States. He rose to notoriety as a member of the legendary Trybesmen, which he co-founded in 1998 with fellow rappers KB and Freestyle. He has recorded five solo albums over his career. ElDee’s age is 46.
