EEDC has driven some people to the extreme, the no light issue has gone on for as long as we can remember. While some communities don't see light for months, these particular community refuse to let it get to that.
Earlier this morning, some youths from Ugwuaji barricaded Enugu-PH expressway as a protest to not having light for two days.
They claimed the community gave their land (50 plots)to ENERGO (Energy Transmission Company) in exchange for 10 years uninterrupted electricity supply.
Police arrived the scene and dispersed the protesting crowd with tear gas and some people were reportedly wounded in the process.
Eye witness narrated that about two persons were hit by stray bullets as police, in their usual way, tried to calm the situation. Roads leading to the area are currently blocked due to the chaos.
